He began his piano studies with his mother at the age of four, continuing to study under her until he passed his grade 8 Associated Board Examination at the age of just 15. He played a very active part in the musical life at Liskeard School and Community College, including playing the organ for the school carol services. While studying his A-levels at St Austell College, Jonathan passed his Advanced Certificate in Piano Performing. He became interested in the pipe organ at the age of twelve, and went on to study under Gillian Adams. He has since become a member of the Cornwall Organist's Association, for whom he has given several recitals, including one on his Granddad's own four-manual organ. In February 2002 Jonathan passed his LRSM Piano Diploma in Performing after studying under the tuition of Mr John Stevenson. Since then he has become an established local pianist and organist, and is now in great demand to give recitals and concerts. He has recently performed at Truro Cathedral, St Petroc's Church bodmin, Liskeard Public Hall, and on the new organ at St Endellion Church, as well as many other venues, performing many major works. On the piano he has played Mozart's Piano Concerto in A K488 with St Mewan Sinfonia, and chopin's Piano Sonata in B minor. On the organ, Jonathan has performed Mendelssohn's first Sonata, which he recently played in a master-class with Dr Simon Lindley, as well as providing an organ accompaniment to a performance of Handel's Messiah at Liskeard Wesley Church. As well as giving recitals, Jonathan teaches piano and keyboard to around 35 students each week, and plays regularly at Grace Community Church.
