Scott of the Antarctic - Double Audio Cassette Scott of the Antarctic - Double Audio Cassette
In 1911 Captain Robert Falcon Scott went back to the huge frozen wasteland of the Antarctic with the intention of reaching the South Pole, by a long and terribly arduous trek across the ice. On finally reaching the Pole Scott and his comrades were devastated to find that they had been beaten by the Norwegian explorer Amundsen. With temperatures of minus 30, they began their slow journey back to their base; coming within eleven miles of safety, they finally succumbed to the elements and they were found eight months later frozen to death. Captain Scott's diary of this epic journey was discovered under his shoulder, stored inside a little wallet.

Queen Victoria's Highland Journals cover the period from 1848 to 1882 and provide a fascinating insight into those long 'never-to-be-forgotten days' she spent with her family in her much beloved Scottish Highlands.

The Memoirs of Madame Tussaud - CD The Memoirs of Madame Tussaud - CD
The name of Madame Tussaud is famous throughout the world, yet few people know the fascinating story of her life in Paris during the French Revolution, where she met Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin and Napoleon, became a close friend of the Royal family and an acquaintance of the radical Robespierre.

In her "Memoirs" of 1838, Madame Marie Tussaud recounts how she was forced to take wax impressions of the newly severed heads of her royal friends Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette and how, with her head shaved, she awaited her own execution with the beautiful Josephine Beauharnais, future Empress of France. Fortunate to survive, she travelled to England with her collection of macabre wax casts, and established the "Baker Street Bazaar", so creating the Waxworks Museum that has made her name immortal.
